The East 11th Street Buildingis located in Austin, Texas, designed by Bercy Chen Studio. It is a three story multi-use building, each level has multiple non-orthogonal balconies with vines cascade from these spaces down the facades. The ground floor used as a musical instrument shop and boutique retail outlet, the second floor is reserved for office tenants and the third floor used as residential spaces. The building has unexpected terraces and canopies that engage the outdoors. On the second floor, the cantilevered provides a respite of shade from the intense Texas sun at the entry.

“Volumetrically, the shifting floor plates align with area city landmarks including the Texas State Capitol and the UT Austin Tower. The form and cladding mimic the geological exfoliation of the central Texas landscape, which can be found at the ‘Enchanted Rock’- the Texas version of Australia’s Ayres Rock.”
