This is a unique wooden house in Japan designed by Kazuya Morita architecture studio. This wooden house named as Shelf Pod because it’s interiors such as walls, stairs and windows are covered with bookshelves. This house is a perfect house for book collector. The bookshelves is made of 25mm thick laminated pine-board with 360mm height, 300mm width and 300mm depth of dimensions. The structure has an integrity against an earthquake that provided by a panel of plywood board nailed on the shelf. All of these inter-locking laminated pine-board was manufactured precisely in advance and assembled on-site. It has pyramid-shaped roof using 12 pieces of 230mm prefabricated wooden roof panel. The outdoor walls is made using Japanese traditional construction techniques that accordance with urban fireproofing specifications.
