This chair is designed by Michiel van Gageldonk, shaped like a one quarter of a globe. It made of made of mahogany wood, metal and birch plywood with design that combines characteristics of wood and comfort. Description by designer:
In my designs I always try to balance on the edge of raw and minimal, function and esthetics.
With the Globe chair I combined hardwood with plywood hold together by a metal frame.
While the hardwood shows more the raw nature of the wood with details such as mortise and tenon connections, the seating is more light and sensitive. The flexibility of the seating and the segments make sure that they adjust to the user sitting in it which creates the comfort.
this is a working prototype , but I’m working on improved versions
