This is a unique museum design by Steven Holl Architects that looks like floating in the air. This museum located in lush green landscape at the gateway to the Contemporary International Practical Exhibition of Architecture. From this museum, you can enjoy the views of Pearl Spring that located near the museum. The design is has a character of early Chinese painting with shifting viewpoints, layers of space, and expanses of mist and water. At the garden, the walls has black bamboo pattern that made of concrete.
“The straight passages on the ground level gradually turn into the winding passage of the figure above. The upper gallery, suspended high in the air, unwraps in a clockwise turning sequence and culminates at “in-position” viewing of the city of Nanjing in the distance.”
Floor at courtyard is made using recycled Old Hutong bricks that give a natural pattern. This museum also equipped with geothermal cooling and heating, and recycled storm water. Here are some photos of this unique art museum that looks like floating.
