La Grande Arche or La Grande Arche de la Défense is a monument and building designed by Johann Otto von Spreckelsen and engineered by Erik Reitzel. The location of the building is in the business district of La Défense to the west of Paris, France.
The building designed by Johann Otto for a great national design competition in 1982. The construction of the building started in 1985 and completed in 1989. The shape of the building is cube, with width 108m, height 110m and depth 112m with fabric canopy inside the cube. La Grande Arche is built used a prestressed concrete frame covered with glass and Carrara marble from Italy.
