This is a cozy house that will perfect as a holiday house with a beautiful views to the Muskoka Lakes. This house designed by Altius Architecture in the cliff side with the integration between the surrounding scenery and the natural elements of the house. This house built for a family of four with cozy features where the occupants can enjoy theirs dinning, cooking, living, reading and sleeping with nice view, light and breezes of the cliff. To save the energy, this house implements a passive gain and solar mass strategy.
When summer comes, there is a summer shading that will limits heat gain and the operable windows that will act as natural ventilation, vented out the hot stale air and drawn the cool fresh air. The use of green roof not only to mediate the temperatures but also to connecting the building foreground with the distant landscape. In the winter, the house use optimized glazing and solar orientation with concrete slabs, stone walls and the two interior fireplaces that will store the sun’s radiant energy to the whole of the house.
